The Bibliographic Standards Committee is pleased to present this full-day workshop will focus on the descriptive portions of the bibliographic record, following the scope of DCRM(G), with special attention to instructions that are given new emphasis, such as transcription. In addition, it will cover creating records for illustrations within books, and creating group-level records. It is suitable for those who have experience using one or more of DCRM(B), DCRM(S), and Graphic Materials, and who wish to learn to catalog according to DCRM(G). Katz and Julie Golia, Co-Directors of Students and Faculty in the Archives (SAFA), Brooklyn Historical Society<br \/>\nRegistration: Limited to 24 participants<br \/>\nCost: $149 (includes materials and refreshment breaks)<br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.teacharchives.org\">Students and Faculty in the Archives\u00a0(SAFA)<\/a><\/i> is an innovative postsecondary education program at Brooklyn Historical Society which uses primary sources to teach document analysis, information literacy, and critical thinking skills. Independent evaluators have found SAFA students are more engaged and perform better than their peers. This full-day workshop will provide a professional development opportunity for librarians and archivists based on three years of Summer Institutes and workshops conducted for local and national partners, faculty and librarians alike. \u00a0This workshop is aimed at the special collections professional who has some teaching experience\/responsibilities but who wants to turn his\/her instruction activities into a more systematic program.
